Tips For Stopping Foot Odor

Have you ever cleared a room by simply taking off your shoes? For many people, that is an embarrassing reality. Before you cover up the odor with deodorizers or air fresheners, you might want to consider the root of the problem.
Smelly feet are caused when your feet sweat in your shoes, which is a breeding ground for bacteria and fungus. This bacteria is what creates the unpleasant smell.
If you want to prevent embarrassing foot odor, here are a few tips to keep bacteria at bay:
- Wash and exfoliate your feet regularly.
- Completely dry your feet and in between your toes after bathing.
- Use hand sanitizer to kill any germs on your feet.
- Use an antiperspirant product on your feet.
- Stay away from plastic or rubber shoes; instead opt for fabrics that allow your feet to breathe.
- Lightly powder the inside of your shoes and socks with Talcum powder, baking soda, or corn starch daily.
- Choose white socks over colored socks, as colored socks are more prone to bacteria.
- Wash your socks inside out with bleach. This will allow dead skin cells to wash off easily.
- Don’t wear the same shoes every day. Rotate them so they can thoroughly dry out before wearing them again.
- Wash your shoes regularly.
