Meet Dr. Rebecca Sikora, DPM, AACFAS

Dr. Rebecca Sikora DPM

For many patients, foot and ankle pain can quietly disrupt daily life — limiting movement, independence, and comfort. Dr. Rebecca Sikora understands that impact deeply, both professionally and personally. A Greensboro native and board-certified podiatrist, Dr. Sikora brings advanced medical training together with a thoughtful, conservative approach to care that puts patients first.

Medicine has always been part of Dr. Sikora’s life. Growing up as the daughter of the late Triad Foot & Ankle Center podiatrist, Dr. Richard Sikora, she witnessed firsthand how specialized foot and ankle care can truly change someone’s quality of life. That early exposure shaped not only her career path but also her philosophy of care: listen closely and treat thoughtfully

Dr. Sikora's Education and Training

Dr. Sikora earned her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill before completing her medical degree at Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine in Ohio. She then completed an intensive three-year surgical residency at Wake Forest Baptist Health in Winston-Salem, a Level 1 trauma center. There, she received comprehensive training in forefoot, hindfoot, and ankle deformities, traumatic injuries, reconstructive foot and ankle surgery, limb salvage, and complex wound care.

That depth of training allows Dr. Sikora to care for a wide range of conditions, from common foot pain to advanced surgical cases — all while maintaining a measured, patient-focused approach. She treats conditions such as plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendonitis and injuries, bunions, hammertoes, neuromas, flat feet, posterior tibial tendon dysfunction (PTTD), peroneal tendon injuries, ankle sprains, wounds, fungal toenails, and warts.

Dr. Sikora is extensively trained in both non-surgical and surgical treatment of foot and ankle conditions. She believes in thoughtful, individualized care and takes the time to fully understand each patient’s symptoms, lifestyle, and goals before recommending a treatment plan. When conservative care is appropriate, she incorporates evidence-based options to support healing and recovery. When surgery is the best solution, patients can feel confident knowing they are in highly skilled hands.

Dr. Sikora provides advanced surgical care for a wide range of conditions, including Achilles tendon injuries, bunions using modern techniques such as bunionplasty, hammertoes, neuromas, and chronic plantar fasciitis. She also has a strong interest in regenerative medicine and performs a high volume of PRP platelet-rich plasma injections, which may enhance healing for certain tendon and soft-tissue conditions and complement both non-surgical and surgical treatment plans.

One of the most common misconceptions Dr. Sikora encounters is that podiatrists only treat toenails. In reality, podiatrists are physicians trained to diagnose and treat conditions affecting the entire foot and ankle, including bones, joints, tendons, ligaments, nerves, and skin. From sports injuries and structural deformities to complex reconstructive procedures, Dr. Sikora provides comprehensive care across the full spectrum of foot and ankle health.

At the heart of her practice is a genuine commitment to building meaningful connections with patients. She believes that informed patients make confident decisions, and she takes the time to ensure each person feels heard, supported, and comfortable with their care plan.

“My goal is to help patients feel supported, understood, and confident at every step of their care. Whether treatment is simple or complex, patients should always feel comfortable asking questions and participating in decisions about their health,” says Dr. Sikora.

Outside of the office, Dr. Sikora enjoys spending time with her daughter and pursuing creative hobbies such as sewing, knitting, and crocheting. These activities reflect the same patience, attention to detail, and care that define her approach to medicine.

Whether treating everyday foot pain or guiding patients through complex treatment decisions, Dr. Sikora is dedicated to providing expert, compassionate foot and ankle care to the community she is proud to call home.
